NISA is strictly a seasonal recreational girl’s fast-pitch league. Organizations cannot hold tryouts where players could be cut for recreational teams in NISA. No players that are playing on teams established outside of a rec organization.

Players participating in part-time/tournament teams through the town's rec program are permitted to play but all part time/tournament team players must be split equally across all teams in that division (e.g. tournament team has 12 players and the town has three 10U teams for spring - the 12 tournament players must be split equally across those 3 teams). Players need to be split up through the rec teams for both fall and spring regardless of when the tournament team plays. Recreational players may be classified as substitutes for travel teams, with a maximum of two such players permitted per team. A substitute is defined as a player who participates in less than 30% of the team’s total games. Teams should not reschedule games for the purpose of accommodating substitute players.
